Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Health & Safety Administrator to play a key role in managing health, safety, and compliance within our structural steel operations. This position is initially part-time, with the opportunity to transition to full-time as our business grows.
As a key member of our team, you will ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of our workforce, support regulatory compliance, and help maintain a strong safety culture across all operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update health & safety documentation, policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Assist in preparing and managing RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) for projects and tasks.
- Track and update training records, certifications, and competency matrices for all staff.
- Assist in accident, incident, and near-miss reporting and investigations to identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate health & safety inductions for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors, ensuring all safety protocols are communicated effectively.
- Monitor PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) records to ensure that the correct equipment is issued, logged, and tracked.
- Support site audits, inspections, and internal safety reviews to ensure continuous improvement in safety practices.
- Collaborate with site managers, supervisors, and external safety consultants to address health and safety matters and maintain a safe working environment.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a health & safety or administrative role (experience within construction / manufacturing is preferred).
- Experience of using hand tools on previous jobs
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Solid understanding of health & safety regulations, particularly within construction, manufacturing, or structural steel environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and document control systems.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively.
Desirable Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
- Prior experience within structural steel, construction, or engineering environments is highly advantageous.
