Maintenance Technician (PPM Cover – Immediate Start)

£22/hr CIS
Location: Manchester
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Start Date: ASAP
Type: Temporary – Sickness Cover

We are currently working on behalf of a large Build to Rent operator to recruit an experienced Maintenance Technician to provide short-term sickness cover within the team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established residential development in Manchester, supporting day-to-day maintenance operations across two residential towers.

Working within a structured Build to Rent environment, you will be part of a professional on-site team supporting a high-quality residential community.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Property Maintenance Operative / Handyman to support our client, a leading provider of Build to Rent accommodation in Manchester.

Maintenance Technician Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks across the development
  • Completing general maintenance and repair duties as required
  • Supporting reactive work orders (with reception assisting in job closure where needed)
  • Ensuring communal areas and building services are maintained to a high standard
  • Working collaboratively with on-site building services and management teams

Maintenance Technician Requirements

  • Previous experience in residential or commercial maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of PPM routines and general building maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks effectively
  • Reliable, proactive, and available for immediate start

Maintenance Technician Additional Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and reporting on room condition and maintenance issues
  • Preparing rooms for new tenant arrivals
  • Moving and assembling furniture, including mattresses and large items
  • Carrying out siliconing and sealant works
  • Repairing and replacing shower heads and minor fixtures
  • General fault finding and basic repairs
  • Painting and touch-ups
  • Mixture of joinery, plumbing and basic electrical repairs
  • Flushing water systems and reporting defects
  • Supporting wider maintenance team as required

Maintenance Technician Requirements

  • Previous property maintenance or handyman experience, ideally within Build to Rent, student accommodation, property management, or hospitality sectors
  • Multi-skilled and able to work independently across varied tasks
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage professionally with residents, colleagues, and contractors
  • Reliable, proactive, and available for an immediate start
