Job Title: Technical Inspector (Damp and Mould Surveys)

Location: Rochdale

Contract Type: Temporary Agency Role

Duration: Up to 8 Weeks

Salary Equivalent: Approx. £40,000 per annum

Hours: 36.25 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, typically 8:00am – 3:45pm, with occasional later starts and 5:00pm finishes

Equipment & Vehicle: All equipment and a vehicle will be provided

We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Inspector to support our Property Services team on a temporary agency basis for up to 8 weeks to provide sickness cover.

This role will focus primarily on conducting Damp & Mould Surveys and associated property inspections across residential housing stock.

As a Technical Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, quality, and condition of residential properties. You will undertake a range of property inspections, including damp & mould assessments, structural evaluations, and post-inspections of completed remedial works.

Using your technical expertise, you will diagnose property issues, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and ensure works are completed to a high standard while maintaining excellent customer service.

Technical Inspector Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and diagnose property repairs using specialist equipment and inspection methods
  • Identify repair requirements and provide recommendations for remedial works
  • Organise and monitor remedial works to ensure quality, compliance, and value for money
  • Carry out post-inspections of completed repairs
  • Provide technical advice regarding housing stock condition and repair solutions
  • Undertake inspections relating to:
    • Damp & mould
    • Structural and drainage issues
    • Fire damage
    • Adaptations
    • Mutual exchanges
    • Permission requests
    • Complaints investigations
    • Commercial and pest-related inspections
  • Assess and prioritise workloads effectively
  • Build rapport with residents and manage expectations professionally and empathetically
  • Produce clear, concise, and accurate inspection reports with findings and recommendations
  • Work collaboratively across teams to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Support customers with specific needs by coordinating any required arrangements

Technical Inspector Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence (minimum points)
  • Good working knowledge of mobile phones and PDA systems
  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations and Decent Homes Standards
  • Expertise in property inspection, repairs, refurbishment, and adaptations
  • Proven ability to identify and diagnose building defects
  • Extensive knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and risk assessment procedures
  • Ability to produce accurate technical inspection reports
