Our large manufacturing client in the Milton Keynes area are looking for a Test Technician to join their team at their state of the art manufacturing site on a permanent basis.

Role: Test Technician
Pay: £12-13 per hour DOE
Hours: 08.00-16.30
Must be flexible to work overtime weekday and Saturdays there will be additional hours available
Overtime paid at x1.5 rate and x2.0 after 4 hours at 1.5 rate.
25 Days holiday, eligible for healthcare scheme and pension after 3 months.

The role is to perform day to day testing activates and assist test engineers in the implementation of tests to validate machine performance and improve reliability for new and existing products.

Main tasks

  • Use test equipment, jigs and fixtures to perform testing operations.
  • Provide "hands on" testing services to product development teams to validate new products.
  • Follow test processes to validate machine design and performance considering through life use and likely failure modes; working with company employees
  • Carry out experiments to solve 8D problems as part of the company's team-based problem solving methodology.
  • Periodically inspect existing products and test reliability on a proactive basis to prevent failures developing in the field.
  • Implement data logging on prototype machines to determine the machines life cycle tests and ongoing reliability tests.
  • Perform the required testing to a high level of accuracy and the ability to produce accurate test data.
  • The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role and the organisation?s overall business objectives, this may include the training and mentoring of colleagues.

Qualifications & experience

  • HNC/HND/Apprenticed trained
  • Familiar with the capabilities and practical installation of typical instrumentation i.e. K-Type thermocouples, pressure sensors and data loggers.
  • Familiar with Microsoft packages and computer literate.
  • Background knowledge of 'Off Highway' machinery and Hybrid systems
  • Basic understanding of Hydraulics/Electronics/Engineering drawings
