Bamford Contract Services are currently looking for a PRINCIPAL ENGINEER for their client in the Chorley area

The main duties of the role are to provide technical knowledge,leadership,guidance and support to deliver projects ensuring all actions activities and outputs advertise the integrity expertise and competency of the client.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

Technical Competency 
Oversee and originate concept designs / engineering studies in order to develop effective solutions and subsequently prepare and present these proposals direct to stakeholders and colleagues 
Provide design and engineering guidance to colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers and clients as appropriate, by means of formal explanation of, but not limited to, the following: 
option studies design concepts, drawings, calculations, reports and related materials / documentation 
applicable engineering processes, procedures and methods 
relevant data, theory, formulae and standards

Project Delivery 
Liaise with internal and group company colleagues to provide, but not limited to, the following: 
originate, prepare and deliver engineering proposals, option studies and reports 
oversee packages of work which develop and deliver engineered solutions 
attend and contribute to engineering meetings and organise and chair formal design reviews 
check, review and approve engineering deliverables and outputs and provide constructive feedback 
respond to any appropriate enquiry with an informed assessment to advise, guide and effect the appropriate course of action

Design & Engineering Liaison, Consultancy & Support 
Liaise with client, internal and group company colleagues as necessary to: 
develop, prepare and present engineering solutions 
originate engineering reports and other design related documentation 
attend, chair and contribute to meetings as requested 
respond to any appropriate enquiry with an informed assessment in order to advise and guide 
Promulgate and promote the Company?s reputation, expertise and capability through attendance at exhibitions, client meetings, external events, inward visits, and through professional bodies and contribution and submission to media articles

Resource Interactions 
Communicate effectively with all members of the team to ensure dissemination of all necessary information and the delivery of overall work package objectives 
Provide support and guidance, input and interpretation to all team members, subcontractors, suppliers and clients on engineering related matters 
Mentor and develop junior team members and be supportive of senior colleagues in respect of their resource development duties

Bid Support 
Action appropriate response to internal colleague or client enquiry and ensure completion of all necessary documentation 
Support the preparation of Bids by providing input to: 
engineering solutions that meet the client scope 
statement of understanding 
risk assessment 
cost estimate sheet 
project organisational structure 
time and resource programme 
support documentation; letters, references, referrals etc. 
Support Tender and Contract Reviews through the provision of relevant and informed technical information and advice

Accountable for the safety of themselves and others whose safety may be compromised by their actions and/or omissions 
Accountable for the tasks assigned and actions thereof 
Communicate with others any uncertainties about tasks, processes or expectancies 
Empowered to make decisions, within the constraints of the position description

The Company operates a QSHEW system to manage quality, health and safety and the environment. It is your responsibility to ensure all personal actions comply with the QSHEW system but specifically: 
be aware of company policies 
be aware of QSHEW procedures which apply to your area of work 
conform to the QSHEW system 
assist the company in operating the QSHEW system 
co-operate and assist during any audit

Reporting Relationships

Reports to: Engineering Manager 
Continuing personal development (CPD) 
Technical engineering capability, competence and compliance, engineering strategy

Reports to: Project Manager 
Project related design and engineering tasks and issues 
Design and engineering risks as and when they arise or are identified 
Any issue that may have a commercial, safety, quality, environmental or legal impact upon the Company or a Project 
Any issue that has had or may have an impact on the safety of any person or equipment

Reports to: ESH & Q Representative
Any issue that may have an effect on the quality of the services provided by the company

Additional Tasks 
Carry out, as instructed, any task as deemed reasonable by a Director in the interest of the Company 
Compliance with the requirements of the Company's QSHEW system and all relevant legislation 
Maintain professional status with the Engineering Council and undertake CPD 
Display a professional and acceptable attitude and image for all work associated with and undertaken by the Company, with all stakeholders
