Our client a leading civil engineering company is looking for 4 groundworkers to add to its existing work force on a temporary to permanat basis.

As a Ground Worker you will be involved in all aspects of groundworks associated with agricultural and general construction, including preparing the site, using mechanical plant and hand tools.

Main responsibilities

 Work as part of a team under the supervision of the Site Foreman.
 Wear personal protective equipment
 Report damaged or missing PPE.
 Work away from home if required.
 Groundwork -  Marking out and digging shallow trenches for foundations and drains.
 Formwork -  Erecting and dismantling temporary formwork.
 Steel fixing -   Fixing/tying reinforcing bar.
 Steel sheet piling -  Fixing steel sheet piles together to form temporary retaining walls for excavation work.
 Concreting -   Pour formwork. Laying and finishing concrete for foundations, floors and beams.
 Road works  - Concreting, laying kerbs, paving and re-surfacing.
 Identify existing services - Use CAT scanner and other detective equipment including hand digging to locate exact position.
 Use various hand/power tools including operating mechanical plant and site equipment.
 Use high pressure water systems for cleaning tools, plant, site equipment and vehicles.
 Assist concrete laying process.
 Report equipment faults to the Site Foreman.
 Finish concrete, for example floating and applying protective coatings.
 Receive and check deliveries before signing delivery notes. Report discrepancies to the Site Forman and make relevant comments on the delivery notes.
 Control and store construction materials on site.
 Clean and maintain work areas, rest areas and hygiene facilities.
 Clean and return tools and equipment to the correct places in company vehicles and site cabins.
 Refuelling plant with quantities noted on the timesheet.

Skills, interests, qualifications and training

 Good level of fitness.
 Good practical skills.
 Knowledge of building methods and materials.
 The ability to work quickly and methodically.
 Good team working skills.
 The ability to concentrate while doing repetitive tasks.
 The ability to follow written and verbal instructions, if in any doubt ask.
 An awareness of health and safety.
 Willingness to work flexibly.
 Hold a valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme card (CSCS).
 Hold a full UK driving licence.
 Complete training as required.
