On behalf of our client, we are delighted to be recruiting for a Sales and Estimating Co-Ordinator to join their organisation on a permanant basis.

Job Purpose:

The Sales & Estimating Coordinator will form an integral part of the Sales function in the achievement of key objectives; ensuing the businesses required volume of product is supplied to the customer effectively, efficiently & economically.  Responsible for developing and maintaining long term client relationships, creating a sustainable pipeline, accurate and business beneficial quotations in line with the Enquiry, Quotation, Close process, provide a consistent and fair front facing point of contact, responding to simple & complex issues in a timely manner, aiding relationships, retention & loyalty.

It is expected the person will have a strong, solid background in bespoke made to order sales within manufacturing and / or Timber related industries, with the ability to focus clearly on providing exemplary communication between the customer and the business, improving quality, strategic make it happen revenue generation, enhancing the businesses bottom line and reducing all forms of waste (time, material, cost, resource, etc.), whilst identifying needs to create and improve existing processes as required, making recommendations and implementing changes, where agreed.

The individual must be able to safely respond quickly to the needs of the customer focused manufacturing businesses, supporting the group, as and when necessary.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring safe practices are conducted relating to on-site, site support and customer site visits & activities
  • Processing enquiries from existing and new clients within the parameters of the Enquiry, Quotation, Close process; negotiating the best options for the business whilst supporting the customers needs
  • Managing orders & customers’ expectations from start to finish ensuring all essential details are tracked
  • Maintain and own an accurate pipeline of all quotations, ensuring the conversion rates supports the business’s needs, accurately forecasting future sales and forming sales plans to adapt to constant shifts in the marketplace
  • Production of technical quotations for customers in a clear, detailed and accurate manner, using the relevant IT systems available
  • Providing and assisting colleagues & customers on technical, compliance and design issues
  • Building relationships with customers and potential customers to understand their requirements and how the business can exceed these needs
  • Recording all relevant sales and technical information on the company’s operating systems
  • Maintain ownership for Contract Reviews
  • Achieving relevant targets and KPI’s
  • Support LEAN and other Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • To be accurate and methodical with every detail to meet the customer requirements
  • Solving and investigating customer’s long-standing or complex problems, in a timely, effective, efficient manner using transparent communication to all stakeholders. Ensure the issues are seen through to resolution
  • Promote the importance of the customer within the business at all levels, driving a customer centric ethos through all stages at the order / production / sales and after sales processes
  • Communicating politely with customers by email, letter, face to face, and telephone, ensuring opportunity to improve their experience are reviewed and adopted
  • Visiting customers, when required, for the provision of one-to-one service, feedback and issue / complaint resolution
  • Providing advice and help to customers using the products as to raise satisfaction and cost-down on problem solving
  • Issuing replacements Job Sheets, credit notes or, in extreme cases, compensation to customers and maintaining accurate and timely records of all correspondence or discussions; whilst providing a cost reduction, whilst coordinating this with the Customer Service Manager and Finance

Essential Skills/Experience and Qualifications:

  • A professional qualification related to Sales, Estimating, joinery, manufacturing or technical and / or a minimum of 3+ years related work experience in the timber manufacturing industry – bespoke manufacturing preferred, including operating within a SME & as part of a large multinational business
  • Experience of working within a safety focused industry
  • An understanding of quality systems and processes
  • Experience in providing customer focused support
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing and applications, as well as traditional techniques within the timber industry
  • Excellent knowledge of sales management methods, communication and techniques
  • Competent level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum), as well as knowledge of databases and tools
  • Continuous development of self
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
  • An expert negotiator
  • Practically minded with a problem solving attitude
